fuel tuesday when the obama administration releases the plan to reduce gun violence. the president called on the report after the newtown school shooting to come up with answers, to what has seemed like an unsolvable question. how do we deal with the gun violence that is shaking the nation? the answer is not easy and the political will has been lacking in both parties. but newtown seemed to change the equation. the deaths of 26 innocent people, including 20 children has pierced the nation's consciousness. we do not know what biden's report will say, we are told that the obama administration will try to pass an assault weapon's bans. the nra will oppose it. and gun rights supporters want to focus more on mental health and school safety. we will see what the backgroundries are going to be on tuesday -- boundaries are going to be on tuesy. >>> nothing that anyone could predict is the conspiracy theory of what happened on that day. we know that people put their theories on everything on the internet. there's a professor that questions whether the newtown tragedy ever occurred. >> it tu

the debt ceiling? we're approaching that. we heard from the obama administration they have no backup plan if congress does not raise the debt ceiling, and the head of the house republican conference kathy mcmorris rogers says i think it's possible we should shut down the government to make sure the president understands we're serious. what do you think of that kind of talk? >> that's a terrible statement to make. shutting down government is different. now, we've got to be clear here. there's shutting down government in a budget fight. that's one thing. that's okay you can argue about that. the debt ceiling however is messing around with the full faith and credit of the united states. it would be bad for the economy when we played that game of russian roulette back in august of 2011. you could see the economy decline. you could see job creation going away. i'm with newt gingrich on this one. newt gingrich had taken a strong position that we should not use, that the republicans should not use the debt ceiling as leverage in this cutting spending. let's use the continuing

think about the view of the obama administration towards the financial sector itself, and i can remember some comments like yeah, you're entitled to a profit but you're not entitled to this huge profit. i think the view of a lot of people in the administration have towards the financial sector, where it's almost seen as not a partner in growing the economy, but almost an impediment to it. do you think we're going to have another four years where they really don't understand how important it is for the financial sector to, you know, to grease the skids for the economy overall? >> well, you know, the regulatory pendulum and attitudes all swing. when there's a crisis it tends to sbing to conservative attitudes, to restraining attitudes and that's what we've seen. we saw it in the '30s, in the late 1980s, early 1990s. but it all always tends to moderate because the financial system is so critical to the well-being of the economy that over time one really has to have a moderate approach to the industry. that will come. now, i can't say that the pendulum has swung as far as it will go. there m
